The Three Websites That I Used for My Research Are:
Holocaust Memorial Museum
This website is credible as it is a ".org" website, and all of the links on the site work. It is also the official website of the Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Orchestra of Exiles
This website is credible because, to begin with, it has the ".org" extension. Also, at the bottom of the page, there is a copyright date which is 2014. This shows that the website is frequently checked and updated. You can contact the author as well by clicking the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page.
Neo-Neocon
This website is a ".com", however I still consider it credible. It gives the author's background information, and her levels of education. Included also is the date in which the post was published, which was just a little over a year ago-- therefore the information is fairly recent.
What I Learned!
According to website #1, Jews were very patriotic people and many had already fought for Germany in World War I. From 1933-39, the German government passed laws that discriminate against Jews specifically. Up until Kristallnacht, the Jews believed that they would be able to stand up against the Nazi persecution, and they hoped for a positive change in German politics(Website #1). The Jews had no idea what they were in for. For those who actually tried to leave Germany, it was not an easy thing to do. Since anti-Semitism was popular, they had to find a country that was willing to accept them and their families. Even when a country was found that would accept them, it would take a great deal of time, paperwork, and money to carry the escape out(Website #1). In many cases, the effort to escape failed to carry out.
As mentioned in website #1, the Jews believed that Hitler would not be in power long enough to completely take them over-- which he ended up doing. The Jewish people believed that since Hitler was such a horrible and brutal person, that there would be revolts against him(Website #2). The Jews had no idea what they were in for, and to what extent Hitler would go to to torture them.
Website #3 mostly mentions the same things as the first two websites, but this website includes personal stories and letters from people who experienced the Holocaust. In most cases, emigration required connections, money, and being very sly and cunning(Website #3). In many cases, some Jews would find out about the dangers when it was too late to get out.
